Yes, I think those are exactly the kinds of use cases that I had in mind.
This way, a "dumb client" doesn't have to do a sync operation, it can just
present the tree view as it comes.

Turning it over in my mind, it does seem useful. But if no one is willing to
raise a hand and say, "I'd use it if it were there," ...
