This seems to make the most sense to me. The other
approaches mentioned seem too complex and push
unnecessary logic to the client.

This may make it hard for clients to fetch only draft
posts without having to fetch unnecessary posts from
the server. Of course, this reminds me that there
needs to be a way to fetch lightweight entries (title
+ id) from the server for low bandwidth clients such
as mobile phones.
