It depends how you view your service. For example, does Hotmail throw 
out extension headers? (I'd be surprised if it did, but I don't know)

It depends on whether you see the APP as a way to throw something at the 
server and see what sticks, or as a messaging gateway that preserves 
what it can. I'm not suggesting either approach is the right way to go, 
but both are reasonable.
