No and Yes. Because we'd be overloading application/atom+xml semantics 
such as they are - the important part being 'application/atom', not 
'+xml'.  Now, if you can demonstrate a shared common meaning with Atom 
Format then I guess it can be used. I'm skeptical tho'.
