I'm doing this on my blog[1] right now. The way I've done it is that each entry has a corresponding POSTable comments collection. Right now the collection is linked to with @rel='replies', it would be nice to have a different @rel value that makes it obvious that it's writable. I'm using my web-based AtomPub client to provide a more traditional browser interface to it. I'd like to see this idea catch on.
