I doubt anyone will be able to get away with accepting markup in
XHTML form but refusing it in HTML form. (Much to my chagrin, to
be honest. But servers will have to sanitise anwyay, so it really
differs little in the end.)

The interesting bit is not how hard one form or the other is to
parse, but whether the application on top of the Atompub server
can actually do anything with the markup. Most aggregators strip
all markup from titles, f.ex. Whether it came in as HTML or XHTML
is inconsequential.
