Hmm, doesn't the client retrieve the image entry before anyway? E.g. when the feed is retrieved?

Well, the feeds won't really be much used in the web client, as far as I can tell. You'd have an administration client that will use AtomPub and the exposed feeds rather extensively, but the web clients will mostly just GET the images and present them within HTML pages.

What I mean is that the client would need to learn about the existence
of the image in the first place and you can of course include the link
temaplte in the feed's enries, too.
