RefactorOk and ThreadMode
Two major refactoring issues raised in today's WikiGardening chat are
RefactorOk and an excess of ThreadMode discussion making up the "bulk"
of the principle topic pages.
First, I'll fess up that I started "RefactorOk". All my fault. It
was a failed attempt to guide those unfamiliar with Wiki into
suggesting where threads could be more successfully refactored. Part
of the problem (and the FrontPage was at one point refactored to
encourage) was that RefactorOk was taken as an indication that things
*not* marked RefactorOk were implicitly not open for refactoring.
I have opened a page for discussion:
http://intertwingly.net/wiki/pie/ThreadModeAndRefactorOk
Please, do not use thread-mode discussion on that page. Try out
document-mode. Get the feel for it.
We will likely begin refactoring according to the guidelines
accumulated on that page in our next one or two WikiGardening chats,
then possibly pick up the pace by people doing them outside the
gardening chats.
If you have ideas on how to represent the progress, or if it's just a
matter of pointing to a stack of finished/unfinished refactors, please
add them there.
