I'd have to cast my own .02 in supporting Simon's point.  He's dead on
-- this is not possible in php at least the 4.x series and given not
only php's popularity but also the vast number of blogging tools written
in php, relying on a feature that php doesn't support seems silly.  It
may be technically elegant but that only matters so much.
