Obviously there is interest in having the Atom API work with RSS
format.  While there are proponents, it doesn't seem that there is
anyone willing to step up and do the work.

There's a lot of work already done for that effort (RSS Validator, RSS
Profile wiki, ssf-dev, the RSS2 rfc draft) and the Atom spec to date
provides the current benchmark comparison.

The RSS2 Internet Draft is already camera-ready.  Setting up a
side-by-side comparison should be straightforward.
