It's a matter of economics. I regularly write very long entries. I am currently serving my rss feed every two or three seconds, and I pay real money for bandwidth. It's just totally insane for me to serve, and for the aggregators to read, my 800 words on Vancouver's drug problem or internationalizing search engines for the large majority of people who aren't gonna read that. Yes, serving code 304 helps, and yes, I should get into compressing the feed, but it's just bad engineering to force people like me who write long pieces to stuff the whole thing into the feed. There has to be a better way. -Tim
