Except that besides markup geeks no one cares about
XHTML. Your point is valid but the question is whether
RSS is at the point where you give up on the old cruft
instead of fixing it, I don't see this as being the
case.

Give me examples, I'm an aggregator author so I'm sure
I should be familiar with them.

So what stops this from being the case with RSS.

That was then this is now. The RSS spec is under a CC
licence and anyone can publish their own version
derived from it. What technical reasons are there for
not doing so?

My dungeon will have its own qualified medical staff complete with bodyguards. That way if a prisoner becomes sick and his cellmate tells the guard it's an emergency, the guard will fetch a trauma team instead of opening up the cell for a look.
