Re: Atom Info Proposal

http://bitworking.org/projects/atom/examples/example-feed.atom

Switches to Safari, which dumps a useless file on my desktop, and leaves a useless blank new window in my Safari. No aggregator gets opened.

(If I alter Shrook's bundle property list to support .atom and application/atom+xml, the program still doesn't open, though it does* if I find the file on the desktop and double click it, though obviously Shrook doesn't do anything with it)

(* Look Joe, objectivity!)

feed://bitworking.org/projects/atom/examples/example-feed.atom

Immediately switches to Shrook, which opens an "Add New Channel" dialog, pre-filled out with the Atom address. Very slick and convenient. (PS I, and others, recommend the feed:http://www... format, which is probably even more heretic, but whatever)

This is just a single example. My point, however, is not specific to email clients. Instead my point is that that the whole ecosystem needs to be considered, not merely a specific client or server. I believe that we can benefit from the larger perspective of that TAG.

Well it's mostly dealt with at the OS level, so your email client example was pretty dud, to be honest, though I take your overall point.
