The issues with RSS have nothing to do with the specs, and everything to do with "in the wild" usage. Waving a magic wand and saying "the spec says blah!" won't mean anything. So why does it work then for

- XSLT,
- WebDAV,
- SOAP,
- SVG,
- DocBook,



Partly because content tends not to be flowing through those things produced by "just anyone" using a (for instance) free Blogger account

Content is created by content producing tools -- those tools just need to use a proper XML serializer -- like the thing TimB is working on -- and the content will be guaranteed to be wellformed. Problem solved.
