I didn't think I'd run into it as a problem before...
So the question is, do we work from the status quo (ignore the MIME
type, look at the XML data alone) or the specs?
The spec (which I need to re-read) does refer to the MIME type as being
authoritative, but I wonder if anyone noticed a clause by which it could
by default be overridden by the encoding stated in the XML itself? The
XML spec seems to hint in that direction.
