[Libby suggest RDF/iCal]

If it is (a) widely implemented in tools such as Outlook, (b) identifiable by a URI, and (c) has a registered IANA MIME type, then such a suggesions works for me.

a) iCalendar (RFC 2445) is very widely deployed, though isn't XML. Of the alternatives for calendar data in XML, iCal/RDF probably is the most current, active project and probably most deployed, and offers a direct mapping from iCal. Semaview's eventSherpa [1] is probably the shiniest implementation ;-)

b) "http://www.w3.org/2002/12/cal/ical";
c) "application/rdf+xml"

There is also a precedent in syndication with RSS 1.0 + RDF/iCal (e.g. in NewsMonster), which should translate across pretty directly, once we have an extension mechanism.

Any news from Dave Orchard on extension mechanisms, btw?

Cheers,
Danny.
