*Could be*, but mostly isn't. The vast majority of the hyperlinks in an
entry do not indicate a direct response to anything... they're generally
links to related material, shopping opportunities, and so on.
Again, there's nothing stopping a determined developer from abusing "parent"
just as she might abuse "in-reply-to", but there's more wiggle room in:
"This post is in reply to all these linked documents."
...than there is in:
"These linked documents are all parents of this post."
"Parent" is a conceptually concrete label. "In-reply-to" is more nebulous.
