My impression of the backgound on the extensibility model is that it
mostly covers how to recognize forward and backward compatibility
(MustUnderstand, MustIgnore), not the general structure or relation of
those extensions as you seem to be talking about.
Do you have a link to a concise description, or spec text from another
specification, of what it means to "throw in <something> in a
consistent fashion"? It's not clear, to the lay person, how RDF does
that in a way that is uniquely different from doing that in plain XML.
Whatever this distinction is, I expect that for Atom to require it it
will have to have spec text or a normative reference.
