Hm. I think there may be some confusion here:

-  Actually deleting an entry can be done with HTTP DELETE. Which is  
RESTFUL
-  Informing your subscribers that an entry resource has been  
retracted/deleted is an entirely different matter, and does, IMHO belong  
in format, rather than protocol.
