I'd rather it be updated to take into consideration that Atom has introduced
the concept of entry documents alongside feed documents, and thus a link to
a "application/xml+atom" document with a relationship attribute value of
"alternate" is now ambiguous.

I suggest a relationship value of "feed", to use when pointing to a feed.
Note that multiple values for @rel are still possible with html's link (e.g.
@rel="feed alternate").

This also covers the case of a html page containing articles {A,B,C} linking
to a feed which, by now, contains {X,Y,Z}, which is hardly an "alternate
representation" of the same content.

e.
