IMC Presents Summary of S/MIME and PGP/MIME

Internet mail security is becoming a much hotter topic these days. Many people want to keep current with the standards and proposals for standards for end-to-end security in Internet mail. IMC has prepared a summary of S/MIME and PGP/MIME, including an up-to-date status of the proposals.

Personal Data Interchange (PDI)

IMC has recently become stewards for the vCard and vCalendar technologies originally developed by the versit consortium. These two important technologies are electronic formats for exchanging personal data, such as that typically found on business cards and calendaring/scheduling information. Up-to-date information on PDI can now be found on the IMC web site.

Bulk Email

There has been a great deal of recent news about bulk email, also known as "spam". For a background in bulk email and some suggestions of what we can do about it, please see IMC's information about bulk email.

Internationalization

It is vitally important that Internet mail clients work well in the international environment so that users in any country can communicate with each other. IMC has put together a report that will help galvanize the Internet mail community around simple steps they should take to increate interoperability for internationalized mail. Please see IMC's internationalization site for more information.
