I like the idea in general. Two comments:

(1) It is unclear whether the last line of a paragraph has a space at the
end or not. In other words, do I write (using _ to show space):

    para_1_line_1_text_
    para_1_line_2_text_
    para_1_line_3_text_

    para_2_only_line_text_

or:

    para_1_line_1_text_
    para_1_line_2_text_
    para_1_line_3_text

    para_2_only_line_text

?

(2) I think you need to do something about the Usenet sig separator string.
The simplest option is probably to declare it as a special case when the
first line of a flowing paragraph.
