It's the same concept as in the MIXER and Netnews RFCs.

Nobody is going to explain to gateway operators that
they should map one to the other.  Another name gives
you nothing but block it at gateways.  Unless gateway
operators *try* to be smart, but hopefully they don't
when they are not forced to try it.
