Well, the whole point of richmail is its extreme simplicity.    I'd like
to see anyone write a 38-line program that reduces RTF to plain text,
for example, and I think that kind of simplicity is what's needed to
make rich text fly in the real, heterogeneous world.  (Like, is
Microsoft really going to provide a simple rich text interpreter that
can run almost anywhere?)

As far as I know, nobody has ever designed a rich text format with this
kind of extreme simplicity in mind...
