Richtext in MIME

I am not subscribed to the IETF-822 newsgroup.  Can someone please reply
to me with the current status and direction for the 'richtext' content
based on the SGML tagset in the MIME specification?

Is the direction to go away from an SGML markup (oh, no Mr. Bill!) or to
a different DTD definition for the tagset?
