I appreciate why, in the case of a teleconference, location
for the "event" itself is meaningless. However, for many
events, such as a concert for instance, it is of paramount
importance. I understand that different people may place
different interpretations on a location. For one person
"Madison Square Garden" may be very far away, for another
it might be a short cab ride. However the location of the
an event at Madison Square Garden *is* a "property of
the event" and does not change, even if some people watch
the event of TV (one could argue that the TV broadcast is
a separate event). I think that "publishers" of such events
have a legitimate need to record this information is a
well-defined way. I don't think the fact that the information
may be null or "overridden" by a specific participant argues that
the information is not a valid property of some events.
