RE: MIME as a vCalendar element separator - bad move...
Here's another question to consider.
If we choose a mime multipart/related
representation and the message arrives
at an old email client that is not C&S
aware, what happens?
I think if the types are text/foo then
it will display them. However, I'm not
sure a user would necessarily figure out
what to select and copy to transfer
the data to a C&S aware application.
My question is, do we really want users
to have to wait for new mail clients to
use this stuff? If I buy a calendaring
and scheduling app and run it alongside
my "old" email client, can I just cut
and paste appointments (and maybe vCards)
back and forth?
That's possible if the text that needs
to be selected is sufficiently obvious.
Certainly the syntax of my vCard at the
end of this message is such that a user
could take a wild guess. And certianly
some aspects of the MIME proposals would
be sufficiently "ugly" (depends on how
many parts there are, etc.) that this
would probably not work out in practice.
