XML:SOAP and iCalendar

Hi,

There has been significant discussion about the implementation of
iCalendar protocol in XML. A lot of it has been centred around the
concept of raw XML and DTDs/XSLs.

On Fri, 12 Mar 1999 18:49:49 -0800 Lisa Lippert (Dusseault)
(Exchange)" <lisal@Exchange.Microsoft.com> wrote a list of benefits of
using XML. Others (Frank??) pointed out the limitations specifically
to do with weak data types with DTDs.

I have just read the Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP)
Specification (http://msdn.microsoft.com/xml/general/soapspec-v1.asp).
It proposes to use 'text/xml' with HTTP to create an XML-RPC. Since
it can make use of name spaces and allows the definition of objects
with methods that can be typed, would it not be a good idea to define
a SOAP definition for iCalendar.

Just a thought.
