I don't know how things work in the US, but here in Europe odds are
all parts are (at least partly) under control of a service provider.
If the service provider is going to use a limited CS, it's very
reasonable to expect it would also have an external store (be it
FTP, HTTP, WebDAV, IMAP, etc) _AND_ the cell phone would know how
to use it to its advantage. This is useful not only to a CUA -
think automatic slideshow of the pictures you take, etc...
So I guess I agree with you, but I think "small" devices will still
need external assistance to work optimally.
