Dumb Question

I don't know if this is the right place to ask, being a neophyte to
these groups, BUT, I am trying to send columnar data via E-Mail. We are
simply trying to send reports out over the internet to our sales reps,
who mostly have AOL E-Mail addresses. When the data arrives at the
desired location, the columns are all messed up. With a service like
compuserve, you can change to a non-proportional font, but with AOL you
are stuck with the default.

We looked into sending attachments, but the attachments ended up
embedded in the text. We are investigating MIME, now that we have
upgraded our own mail system to MS Exchange which should support this. 
Is this the solution??? I was hoping that someone who had a similar
experience, would tell me if this is the way to go, or perhaps there is
another route to take.
