Real-time T.30 tunnelling is possible in some cases, if the internet
connection is fast enough, if you use the error correction mode to get
a longer timeout and if you pretend to go at a really low baud rate.

Why not just a directory service that turns 'phone number' into
Internet email address? Or a coversheet/checkbox option for the user
to select the recipient.

As for MMR or MH: require that recipients accept either and allow
senders to choose whichever is better for them. Those who want to save
file space will send the smaller.

We'll probably see a lot of other compression schemes as well.
