Looks like that's going to happen because there were strong objections to
the semantics of each approach.  But ignoring the research already completed
is a mistake, indeed.

I, for one, am interested in inventing [1] a new DNS record type and DNS
record class to replace the abuse of TXT records and hard-wired name spaces,
respectively, while keeping the concepts of DMP in tact as long as those
concepts aren't way off base.

[1] "Stealing" was the word used at the BOF, but it was a DNS WG member's
idea.  Speaking of which, any DNS WG members present?
