I would like to know how the two type of access information that had
been in earlier drafts of X.509 were lost. 

The AIA tells you something about the issuer, and there were two others
that concerned End entity information access and CA information access.
(both seem to be identical with the only difference that the subject
is a EE or a CA.) 

I had asked this question a year ago I guess.
