I agree. And I fear if there is nothing on the horizon rather fast, we will
see several versions of things like e.g. XML-based certificates shortly. The
question is who will take the responsibility to head this? W3C having XML
under control? IETF having PKI-experience? A joint effort like with XMLDSig
seems optimal!
