I am not that convinced, at least the SVG format seem to aim to deal
with the problems above:

I don't think this is a new problem that only exists for PKIX.  Logos
are already often distorted in the real world: Black and white news
papers, low resolution screens, etc.  It's not impossible to fake
logos outside the PKIX world, and people seem to cope.

Not to say that the problems of cross-certifying etc aren't real, but
I don't think they are impossible to solve.
