Hmmm. Well, most humans have a hard time reading voiceprints, and even
fingerprints ... but I don't think machines will have a hard time reading
photographs, certainly not for long.

The focus is on the complementary set, i.e., we wanted to reject
biometrics that only machines could process.

Ok. Got it. That makes sense.
You want to ENABLE "human-in-the-loop" verification, as
opposed to DISABLE "no-human-in-the-loop" verification.
