True. 

There are several different possibilities of next steps. Note
that DVCS has a service for 'validate signed documents'.

Considering a 'certificate' as a signed document, you can
indeed also include verification of encryption certificats
or validation of signature certificate before usage. 

Then, replace 'services for signed document validation' by 
'services for validation of document authenticity' ...
