this is a work in progresss. i am building the 3rd edition text (incorporating
technical corrigenda and amendments at this very moment) for itu approval at
this moment. look online via anonymous ftp at nc-17.ma02.bull.com in /pub/
OSIdirectory. you will need to look at both the technical corrigenda and the
amendment text to get the definition of v3 and extensions. the base standard is
copyrighted so it is not availble electronically from me but can be acquired
from itu. however, in the 93 edition directory on the folder, you can find the
asn.1 (it is all of x.500 but you can find x.509 ans.1 within it)

Hi,
  could anybody please give me the description of a X.509 V3
certificate and X.509 V3 revocation list? ASN.1 description would be
sufficient; some explanation would be great.
  Can I find this somewhere in the Web? I know that "normal" ISO/ITU
standards are not available for free ...
