I agree with Warwick that the protocol to be standardized for on-line 
validation is a subject for PKIX Part 2.  However, the private extension 
must include the necessary information to properly invoke the on-line 
validation protocol.  To this end, we need someone who is using the on-line 
validation approach to carefully review PKIX Part 1.

I would consider on-line revocation checking an operational protocol, 
therefore, a topic for coverage in PKIX Part 2.  Nobody has yet stepped 
forward to start development of Part 2.
