decode a X.509 certificate with LDAP 3.3 routines?

Hello,
  has anybody ever tried to decode an ASN.1 encoded X.509 certificate
(V1, V3, ... - whatever) using the decoding functions of Umich´s LDAP
3.3 (ber_scanf() and friends)? Esp. an ASN.1 encoded distinguished name
(X.501)?

I did it today - it seems to work ... So - if anybody is interested in
the sample code (which just works - probably with some bugs) - just send
me an e-mail ... Or shall I post this to (one of) the mailing list(s)?
