Certificate Suspension

Hi,
Whilst attempting to negotiate my way through the various PKIX documents
i came across two terms which seem quite similar but have been made
distinct. The two tersm are 
1. Certificate Revocation and
2. Certificate Suspension.

Cert. revocation is quite clear and needs no further explanation but
cert. suspension i am quite unsure about. The two seem to have the same
effects thus could someone please clarify the exact difference between
them and the resulting actions taken which makes suspension different
from Revocation.
