All,

Sorry I was not clear.  What I meant was that I send an (electronic) check
to whom I _think_ is Acme Hardware on Third Street, when in fact some
miscreant has posed as such to the CA/Directory Service in order to get
a fraudulent certificate or listing.

In such a case, I relied upon the CA/Directory to be authoritative.  But
when they get hoodwinked (though they followed their own stated procedures)
I am left with little recourse.  I may as well be hoodwinked directly, and
leave out the middleman;)
