I think echo could be moved to historic too in the limited use
category of historic.

I think at this point we've staded our positions and additional
discussion on this point is useless.

I think you've made a case that if we chose to do so, we could publish
a new cram-md5 on the standards track.  However doing that requires WG
consensus.  Whether that consensus exists is a question first
evaluated by the chairs.  I've made my position clear: I will not be
part of that consensus.  I think you have made your position clear:
you want to be part of a consensus.
