Getronics has used the v2.0.1 S/MIME Freeware Library (SFL) (with v1.3
R10 Enhanced SNACC ASN.1 Library) to successfully test the majority of
the example messages included in the "Examples of S/MIME Messages"
(examples-07.txt) Internet-Draft (I-D).
We have the following comments to examples-07.txt:
1) We tested using the new Bob RSA private key and certificate sent by
Jim Schaad via e-mail to ietf-smime-examples@xxxxxxx on 20 March 2002.
We recommend that these values be included in the next version of the
Examples I-D.
2) Attached are replacement messages for sections 6.2, 6.3, 6.9, 6.10
and 11.2 that were rebuilt to use the new private key and certificate
for Bob RSA sent by Jim Schaad.
3) Attached are replacement DSA-signed messages for sections 5.1, 5.3,
5.6 and 5.7 that because we (and others) were unable to verify the
DSA-signed messages included in Examples-07 sections 5.1, 5.3, 5.6 and
5.7.
4) Attached are replacement messages for sections 5.4, 5.8 and 5.9 that
were rebuilt to incorporate the following comments from Blake Ramsdell's
e-mail on 1/1/02 with subject line "More draft comments -- primarily
section 5":
5.4.bin SigningTime attribute was incorrectly encoded with
GeneralizedTime
instead of UTCTime.
5.8.eml due to CR comment
5.9.eml due to CRLF comment
Note: We were unable to ues the SFL to decrypt the BER-encoded message
for section 6.7 provided by Jim Schaad in his 20 March 2002 an e-mail
message. We need to work with Jim Schaad on this issue.
We recommend that all of the new example messages (included in attached
zip file) should be tested by others and then included in the next
version of the Examples I-D. The password for the attached zip file is
"password".
