Exactly how big is BITNET?

Just out of curiosity?  How big is the BITNET?  How many hosts?  Also, how
many hosts plan to remain on NJE/RSCS for the indefinite future?

I deal to some extent with someBITNET sites and they uniformly seem wildly
enthusiastic about getting TCP/IP connected to the rest of the world and
dropping their NJE/RSCS connectivity altogether.

No one that I have heard off was planning on using NJE/TCP/IP as more than
a transition step.

But my sample is limited.  Can anyone with actual definite numbers respond?
