John, Russ, ODA contains a specification of an SGML application called ODL (Office Document Language), which may be encoded in 7-bit ASCII with no other control codes than CR, LF. This can be viewed as a "clear text encoding" of ODA. I don't know anything about acceptance in the field. CCITT has conveniently neglected to support this part of ISO ODA. [Erik]
