The identified members among the gang of 12 are not well known for
pioneering real interoperability or interworking.  This looks to me
like the rogues gallery of proprietary standards proponents!

Methinks that the NY TIMES just bought off on publishing a PRESS
RELEASE without doing any further research.  There is no mention
whatever of the facts of great international characterset controversy,
or of any other alternative means for achieving the same goals, etc.
