As one of the co-authors of RFC934, let me point out that the leading
and trailing stuff was left in their to maintain backward
compatibility with the "Disgestification" practices of the time, and
which are still current.

I understand that the new RFC822bis is supposed to retain the RFC934
scheme as one alternatave, while instituting a new encapsulation tool
of greater power for use when needed.

I see no need to keep the Prefix and Suffix "unencapsulated areas in
RFC822bis, other than to retain the old RFC934 scheme intact fo
continued use by the Disgetifiers among us.

In short, I would kiss it good bye in RFC822bis.  Best...\Stef
