Re: FYI: a message handling system is available
Mr. Yeh,
Your note consistitues a commercial announcement. Most segments of the
Internet are operated with public funds and are specifically prohibited
from being used for purely commercial purposes. A number of Internet
discussion groups have been discussing this issue for several years.
While there continues to be debate about acceptable use, your note
was sent to a distribution list which had indicated no specific
interest in product announcements and which had no discussion underway
which could be construed as prompting the 'technical' input that you
state you were sending.
As such, your note exceeds any boundary of acceptable use that I have
yet heard discussed.
I might also observe that 'technical' input which provides
complete product detail, including product numbers and platforms
supported looks to me much more like a product data sheet than anything
pertaining to technical discussion. To the extent that you believe you
were describing the existence of software that solves open technical
problems, you do not indicate which of those features are new. My
reading of your note did not leave me with any obvious guesses. And
please do not take this as an invitation to discussion the question
further on this list.
As a vendor wishing to sell products to users of the Internet, you may
wish to gain additional knowledge about common and acceptable practises.
