The new drafts are still unclear as to what the server is stating when it returns 8BIT with no parameter. Can we either require a parameter, so 8BIT with no parameter is an error, or specify the default behaviour? In the absence of a parameter, assuming NOCONVERT seems safest. Is this what is intended? I don't really care what the default is, as long as it's clearly stated. Jim
